DOG WATER FOUNTAIN
HARTMAN PARK TRAILHEAD

In Spring, 2024, the Legacy for LS Parks Foundation awarded a $27,300 grant to Gamber Community Center for the enhancement of the facility's outdoor courtyard. Improvements included updated landscaping, the installation of a new pergola, water fountain, teak patio furniture, lighting and outdoor heating, as well as the expansion of event spaces and amenities.
The Gamber Community Center is centrally located at the corner of 2nd and Independence Streets, adjacent to the Lee's Summit Historical Cemetery. It is open to the public and available for private rentals, including weddings, family reunions, meetings, and other events year-round.

In April, 2023, the Legacy for LS Parks Foundation authorized a grant to Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation for the installation of a dog water fountain at the Hartman Park Trailhead.
Hartman Park and the Trailhead, which is an amenity of the park supporting the Rock Island multi-use trail, is a frequently used facility by cyclists, walkers, and nature enthusiasts, along with their furry friends! The inclusion of the dog water fountain was identified as a project for the Foundation in an effort to encourage and support LSPR's residents and guests to include the whole family - four legged friends and all - in their enjoyment of the parks!
PLEASANT LEA PARK RENOVATION GRANT
On Saturday, February 11, 2023, LSPR officially rededicated Pleasant Lea Park, a 14.6 acre neighborhood park located at 1108 SW Walnut Street. The park recently underwent a full renovation, with amenity enhancements including new multi-sport courts, a treehouse themed playground, walking trail enhancements, nature play areas, and renewed ball fields.
The project was made possible in large part due to the receipt of a $250,000 grant through the Land Water Conservation Fund.
The Legacy for LS Parks Foundation provided LSPR with a $20,000 grant, which funded the installation of the new shelter at the park and provided the necessary community support for LSPR to be eligible to receive the Land Water Conservation Fund grant.
